Professor Ollie Watts Davis of the UIUC Music Faculty Thursday  noon, April 29, Illini Union (Federal Room 25B Lower Level, north side).  Her topic is “Let the Rejoicing Rise: The Sacred Music of African-Americans.”  Professor Davis conducts the UI Black Chorus, and is the founding director of the national Black Sacred Music Symposium. She is a University of Illinois Faculty Scholar and has won the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.  Since her debut at Carnegie Hall in 1990 she has appeared in concerts and with symphony orchestras around the world.  Professor Davis demonstrates how Christians can witness winsomely in academia and the arts.  Lunch is available in the Illini Union Food Court next door or take your own lunch.  Invite your friends.  We look forward to seeing you there.
