Professor Ollie Watts Davis of
the UIUC Music Faculty. Thursday noon,

topic is “Let
the Rejoicing Rise: The Sacred Music of
African-Americans.” Professor Davis conducts the UI Black Chorus,
and is the founding director of the national Black Sacred Music
Symposium. She is a University of Illinois Faculty Scholar and has
won the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate
Teaching. Since her debut at Carnegie Hall in 1990 she has
appeared in concerts and with symphony orchestras around the
world. Professor Davis
demonstrates how Christians
can
witness winsomely in academia and
